  • Khan played eight seasons in the IPL, taking 102 wickets.

Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan has returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL), joining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a mentor ahead of the 2025 season. The news was announced by the franchise via a video post on X (formerly Twitter). This marks a significant comeback for Khan, who previously worked with the five-time champions Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022.

Zaheer's arrival at LSG fills a void left by Gautam Gambhir, who served as the team's mentor in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Gambhir transitioned to the Kolkata Knight Riders before the 2024 season and is now the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. LSG operated without a mentor during the 2024 season.

Reports also suggest that Zaheer will take on the role of talent development program head at LSG, showcasing his commitment to nurturing emerging talent within the franchise.

Zaheer's contribution to the IPL extends beyond his role as a mentor. He played eight seasons in the league before retiring in 2017, amassing 102 wickets in 100 matches. His experience and expertise in the game will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the Lucknow Super Giants as they gear up for the upcoming season.
