Srinagar, the capital of Indian-administered Kashmir, witnessed its highest voter turnout in over two decades during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, with 36.1% of eligible voters casting their ballots.
This significant increase in voter participation is attributed to the concerted efforts of the Election Commission and political parties in encouraging people to come out and vote. The Election Commission implemented various confidence-building measures for candidates and conducted voter outreach programs, while political parties actively campaigned to mobilize their supporters.
Voters from all walks of life expressed their desire for a better future and a sense of empowerment through their participation in the electoral process. They believe that their votes will contribute to positive changes and a more responsive government. The high voter turnout in Srinagar is a testament to the resilience and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, who are seeking a brighter future through democratic means.
