The Union government has recently made a significant appointment in the realm of legal representation. Six senior advocates have been appointed as Additional Solicitor Generals to represent the Centre in the Supreme Court for a three-year period. This appointment, approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, signifies the government's commitment to bolstering its legal team and ensuring strong representation in the highest court of the land.
The newly appointed Additional Solicitor Generals are S Dwarakanath, Ms Archana Pathak Dave, Satya Darshi Sanjay, Brijender Chahar, Raghavendra P Shankar, and Rajkumar Bhaskar Thakare (Raja Thakare). These seasoned legal professionals bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles. They will join the existing team of Additional Solicitor Generals, including Vikramjit Banerjee, K M Nataraj, S V Raju, N Venkatraman, and Aishwarya Bhati, all of whom are renowned for their legal acumen.
The team of law officers is led by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who is known for his sharp legal mind and strategic approach. In addition to the Solicitor General, the Attorney General for India, senior advocate R Venkatramani, provides strategic advice to the government on legal matters. These appointments further strengthen the government's legal representation in the Supreme Court, ensuring that it is well-equipped to navigate complex legal challenges and uphold its interests effectively.
