Swati Maliwal, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP, has slammed the party for protesting to save the accused in her assault case.
Bibhav Kumar, a close aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested on Saturday in connection with the assault on Maliwal.
Maliwal has alleged that Kumar slapped her multiple times and kicked her in the chest, stomach, and pelvis area.
In a post on social media, Maliwal said that she was "out on the streets to save the accused" who made the CCTV footage of the assault disappear and formatted her phone.
She also expressed regret that AAP leaders were not making similar efforts to support her as they had for Sisodia, who has been accused of corruption.
Kejriwal and other AAP leaders have announced plans to march to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Delhi on May 19 to protest Kumar's arrest.
The BJP has said that they will also send AAP MP Raghav Chadha, who recently returned from the UK, and Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj to jail.
Maliwal has claimed that the CCTV footage of the assault has "disappeared" and that edited videos are being released.
She has also alleged that her phone has been formatted and the full video of the assault deleted.
The AAP and BJP are now set to face off in a protest over the assault case, with both sides accusing the other of trying to protect the accused.
