Due to heavy rainfall, the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Guwahati was disrupted. The start of the game was postponed because to the rain, and RR needed to prevail in order to place among the top two teams and have two opportunities to compete in the IPL 2024 championship game. The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) provisionally hold the second spot in the points table after defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first match on Sunday. (IPL 2024 Points Table)
SRH has 17 points from 14 games, while RR has 16 points from 13 games. In the event of a tie, both RR and KKR will receive one point. Although KKR is already assured of the top spot, a tie won't be enough for RR as they look to finish second in the points standings. RR's losing streak has now reached four games. SRH has a +0.41 NRR and has received 17 points. RR has received +0.27 and 16 points. A tie would force RR to accept third place. They will then compete against RCB on Wednesday in the Eliminator, while KKR and SRH will square off on Tuesday in Qualifier 1 for a berth in the championship game.
When RR and KKR last squared off, the Sanju Samson-led team prevailed by just two runs. With RR and KKR having each won 14 games and one game being cancelled, they have faced off 29 times overall in the IPL. The two teams at the top of the standings will square off in Qualifier 1. The winner of that match in Ahmedabad on Tuesday will automatically qualify for Sunday's championship game in Chennai. The third- and fourth-place teams will square off in the eliminator in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, and the victor of that match will face the losing side of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 in Chennai on Friday. The championship game is set for Sunday at Chepauk in the meanwhile.
