Modi's Ghatkopar Roadshow: Traffic Advisory Issued
  • PM Modi to embark on roadshow in Mumbai's Ghatkopar.
  • Strict traffic advisories implemented to ensure security.
  • PM Modi to campaign for BJP candidate Mihir Kotecha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a roadshow in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area on Wednesday, May 15, at 8 pm. The 2.5 km long roadshow will commence from Shreyas Cinema on LBS Road and culminate at Gandhi Market.

In light of Modi's visit, the Mumbai Police have issued comprehensive traffic guidelines to prevent any security breaches during the event. The LBS Road, a crucial artery, will be shut down from Gandhi Nagar junction to Naupada junction. Similarly, the Mahul-Ghatkopar road will be closed from Meghraj junction to RB Kadam junction from 2 pm to 10 pm.

Several other roads will also be impacted by the road closures. These include the Andheri Ghatkopar Link Road from Ghatkopar Junction to Sakinaka Junction, Gulati petrol pump junction from Hiranandani Kailas Complex Road, and Golibar Maidan and Ghatkopar Metro Station (West) towards Sarvodaya Junction.

Vehicular traffic will be diverted to alternate routes, including the Eastern Express Highway, Western Express Highway, Andheri-Kurla Road, Saki Vihar Road, MIDC Central road, Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), Sion Bandra Link Road, and Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link road (JVLR).

Before the Ghatkopar roadshow, PM Modi is scheduled to address election rallies in Dindori and Kalyan. The roadshow is being held in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Ghatkopar seat, Mihir Kotecha. The constituency will go to polls on May 20, as part of the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Prime Minister's visit to Ghatkopar comes amidst heightened security concerns following the tragic collapse of a massive hoarding near a petrol pump, which claimed the lives of 14 people and injured 75 on Monday evening.

The hoarding collapse resulted in severe traffic congestion and road closures as rescue operations got underway. The authorities are working to ensure smooth traffic flow during Prime Minister Modi's roadshow and minimize any inconvenience to the public.
