  • Stole valuables worth lakhs from passengers at airports.
  • Rajesh Kapoor, arrested from Delhi's Paharganj.

The Delhi Police has uncovered a novel approach to theft at airports, involving a man who boarded 200 flights last year alone and traveled across the country to steal valuables from passengers' luggage.

The accused, Rajesh Kapoor, targeted passengers taking connecting flights, observing their behavior and using tactics such as requesting seat changes to get close to his victims.

Kapoor, who owns a guest house in Delhi Paharganj, was apprehended after being identified through CCTV footage from multiple airports and traced to his residence.

During the investigation, the police discovered a substantial amount of gold and silver jewelry stolen from passengers in various cities, some of which Kapoor had sold to a jeweler in Karol Bagh.

Kapoor had a history of committing thefts on trains but shifted his operations to airports after encountering success.

The Delhi Police's swift actions have put an end to Kapoor's theft spree and brought him to justice, safeguarding passengers at airports from this new modus operandi.
