Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma will not be joining the team's initial journey to Australia for the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar series. However, there's a possibility he might still feature in the first Test, commencing on November 22nd in Perth. The 37-year-old is expecting his second child soon, and this personal event is the reason behind his absence from the initial leg of the tour.
A source within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed to the Times of India that while Rohit is not traveling with the team, his participation in the first Test is not entirely ruled out. He could potentially fly to Australia in the third week, closer to the start of the match.
Team India is scheduled to depart for Australia in two phases, with the first group leaving on Sunday and the second group following on Monday. Previously, Rohit had alluded to possibly missing the initial Test at Perth's Optus Stadium due to personal reasons. If he is unable to participate, the esteemed pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to lead the Indian team in his absence.
