Delhi Water Crisis: AAP MP Demands Action
  • AAP MP Swati Maliwal highlights Delhi's water crisis.
  • Maliwal presents 'black water' to CM Atishi.
  • Maliwal demands action within 15 days.

The pressing issue of water contamination in Delhi has been brought to the forefront by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who has launched a public campaign to urge authorities to address the problem. Her actions, including the symbolic presentation of 'black water' to Chief Minister Atishi, highlight the severity of the situation and the frustration of residents grappling with contaminated water supplies.

On Saturday, Maliwal focused on the poor water quality in areas like Sagarpur and Dwarka, where residents are enduring the consequences of the contamination. She delivered a bottle of water, described as 'black' and polluted, to Atishi's residence, demanding swift action within a 15-day timeframe. Maliwal stated that the water sample was collected from a household experiencing contaminated water supply, emphasizing the widespread nature of the issue.

Taking to social media, Maliwal shared her concerns on the X platform, stating that she had brought the 'dirty black stinking water' from the home of a retired army officer in Dwarka. She pointed out that the area has been plagued by contaminated water for months. In a direct appeal to Atishi, Maliwal highlighted the plight of residents and demanded that she drink the water to understand the extent of the problem. She further warned that if the situation doesn't improve within the stipulated timeframe, she would escalate her protest by delivering water tankers to the Chief Minister's residence.

Maliwal's criticism extends to Atishi's focus on public relations rather than addressing critical issues. She expressed her displeasure over Atishi's frequent press conferences, arguing that they do little to resolve the real problems faced by Delhi residents. She questioned the government's commitment to the well-being of citizens, noting the irony of celebrating festivals like Chhath Puja and Govardhan Puja while grappling with the inability to access safe drinking water.

The water contamination crisis in Delhi is not a new issue, but Maliwal's actions bring renewed attention to the severity of the problem and the need for immediate action. The public outcry and pressure exerted by Maliwal are likely to force the government to prioritize addressing the issue and implement effective solutions to ensure safe drinking water for all residents.
