The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra', for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, outlining a range of promises aimed at securing votes and outlining the party's vision for the state's future. The manifesto highlights the BJP's commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand, with a key caveat – tribal communities will be exempt from its application. This stance reflects a delicate balancing act, acknowledging the importance of preserving tribal traditions while also promoting a unified legal framework across the state.
Beyond the contentious UCC issue, the BJP manifesto focuses on addressing unemployment and economic development. It pledges to create 500,000 employment opportunities, including 287,000 government jobs, signifying a significant effort to boost employment prospects and address a key concern for voters. The manifesto also proposes a special commission to ensure fair rehabilitation for those displaced by industrial and mining activities, aiming to mitigate the social and economic impacts of development projects.
The BJP's manifesto further addresses the longstanding demand for recognition of the Sarna religious code, a crucial issue for tribal communities in Jharkhand. The party promises to take an appropriate stance on this issue, indicating a willingness to engage with tribal communities and address their concerns. This commitment holds significant political weight, as it could potentially win over tribal voters who have historically been a key voting bloc in Jharkhand.
Beyond these core promises, the BJP's manifesto outlines a range of social welfare measures, including the 'Gogo Didi scheme,' which would provide women with a monthly stipend of Rs 2,100. Other benefits include free LPG cylinders for Diwali and Rakshabandhan, a subsidized rate for LPG, and the provision of permanent homes for 2.1 million families. These initiatives are geared towards improving living standards and addressing specific needs within the state.
The manifesto also touches upon security concerns, vowing to conduct CBI and SIT probes into alleged paper leak incidents in Jharkhand, with a promise to hold perpetrators accountable. Additionally, a law will be introduced to reclaim land from infiltrators, with efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants from the state. This focus on security and land ownership reflects the BJP's stance on addressing perceived threats and protecting the state's resources.
