Baba Siddique Murder Suspect Arrested In UP
  • Shiv Kumar Gautam, key suspect in Baba Siddique murder, arrested.
  • Gautam, one of three shooters, allegedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
  • Murder motivated by Siddique's connection to Salman Khan, police say.

The main accused in the murder of Baba Siddique, a prominent NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister, has been apprehended. Shiv Kumar Gautam, identified as one of the three shooters involved in the crime, was arrested from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Sources indicate that he was attempting to flee to Nepal. The arrest comes after a joint operation involving the Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai police, who tracked Gautam to the Nanpara area of Bahraich.

The investigation has revealed that Gautam was in contact with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a notorious criminal organization. All instructions from the gang were allegedly relayed through him. Following the murder, Gautam travelled to Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh, where he met with other gang members. The Mumbai police had previously located him in Omkareshwar, but failed to apprehend him. During interrogation, Gautam reportedly admitted to his connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and claimed that the murder was carried out on the orders of Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is believed to be residing in Canada.

Anmol Bishnoi has been implicated in several high-profile cases, including the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala and the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan's residence in Mumbai in April. He is currently listed as a most wanted fugitive by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and carries a reward of Rs 10 lakh for his capture. The murder of Baba Siddique appears to have been motivated by his close relationship with Salman Khan. Associates of the Bishnoi gang have suggested that the motive stems from Salman Khan's alleged involvement in the killing of blackbucks 20 years ago, animals that are considered sacred to the Bishnoi community.

Investigators have uncovered evidence indicating that Zeeshan Siddique, the son of Baba Siddique and a Mumbai MLA, was also a target of the Bishnoi gang. A photo of Zeeshan Siddique was found on a cell phone seized from one of the three men who shot his father. The arrest of Shiv Kumar Gautam represents a significant breakthrough in the investigation and sheds light on the alleged role of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in the murder of Baba Siddique. The case highlights the serious threat posed by organized crime and the complex web of connections that can fuel violence and intimidation.
