The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended the primary suspect in the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar Gautam, alias Shiva. This arrest, a collaborative effort with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, comes after the earlier detention of two alleged shooters, Gurmail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap, in the murder case. Gautam is alleged to be one of the three individuals who fired upon Siddique on the evening of October 12th in Mumbai's Bandra East area.
The police investigation has unearthed a connection between Gautam and Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious figure from Punjab currently incarcerated in Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Central Jail, has been implicated in various criminal activities. The Canadian government has even accused Indian government agents of collaborating with Bishnoi's gang to orchestrate acts of violence in North America. The Mumbai Police speculate that Siddique's murder was orchestrated to instill fear and facilitate extortion activities.
Beyond Gautam, the police have also apprehended Anurag Kashyap, Dharmaraj Kashyap's brother, and Gyan Prakash Tripathi, who is suspected of providing financial assistance to another accused in the case. These individuals allegedly helped Gautam evade detection and had plotted to escape with him to Nepal. With these arrests, the total number of people detained in connection with Siddique's murder has reached 21.
In a previous development on October 23rd, the Mumbai Police apprehended Amit Hisamsing Kumar, a 29-year-old believed to be a crucial link between the shooter and the alleged mastermind, Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar. Kumar is suspected of playing a part in the planning and execution of the murder. Police are also investigating financial transactions between him and other suspects in the case. The relentless pursuit of justice in the case continues as authorities work diligently to unravel the intricate web of events surrounding Baba Siddique's murder.
