The ongoing saga of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's legal troubles stemming from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case continues to dominate headlines. The latest development involves a suggestion from farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, who advises Salman to seek forgiveness from Lawrence Bishnoi, the gangster who has been issuing death threats against him. Tikait's advice comes amidst heightened security concerns for Salman, following the recent murder of his friend, politician Baba Siddique, allegedly by Bishnoi's gang members.
The blackbuck case, which has spanned over two decades, began with allegations that Salman, along with co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari, poached blackbucks while filming 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain' in Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community holds blackbucks sacred, and the case has triggered strong reactions from the community and Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. While Salman has faced conviction and imprisonment in connection with the case, his co-actors were acquitted.
The case has now escalated to a dangerous level, with Salman receiving multiple death threats from Bishnoi and his associates since 2022. The threats reached a peak earlier this year with gunshots being fired outside his Mumbai residence. The murder of Baba Siddique, who was Salman's close confidante, added another layer of complexity to the situation. Bishnoi's gang claimed responsibility for the murder and reiterated their threats against Salman. Despite Salman's increased security measures, the fear and tension remain palpable.
