Nitish Leads NDA in Bihar, Stresses Communal Harmony
  • Nitish Kumar will lead NDA in Bihar elections
  • Nitish stressed commitment to communal harmony
  • NDA partners to hold monthly review meetings

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has declared its commitment to contesting the upcoming Assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This decision was formalized at a meeting of NDA partners held in Patna on Monday, the first since Nitish's return to the alliance after parting ways with the Grand Alliance.

The meeting saw Nitish Kumar emphasizing his commitment to secularism, asserting that there would be no compromise on communal harmony, regardless of whether Muslim voters support the NDA. This statement comes amidst recent controversy surrounding BJP leader Giriraj Singh's 'Hindu Swabhiman Yatra' in Muslim-dominated regions of Bihar, which was seen as a display of power despite Nitish Kumar's reservations.

The meeting, which was attended by key leaders from the JD(U), BJP, Rashtriya Lok Morcha, LJP(R), and HAM(S), was viewed as a necessary step to reaffirm Nitish Kumar's leadership and ensure clarity regarding the NDA's commitment to communal harmony. The meeting served as a platform for Nitish to address concerns raised by his own party, the JD(U), about the potential for communal discord within the NDA.

The meeting also addressed organizational issues and the need for better coordination among NDA partners ahead of the Assembly elections. It was decided that the district-level 20-point committees, comprising representatives from the BJP, JD(U), and other NDA partners, would now hold monthly reviews of development works and public grievances. This initiative reflects a renewed focus on grassroots coordination and engagement.
