Robert Vadra, businessman and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has vehemently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent 'dalaal, damaad' (broker, son-in-law) remark, which was aimed at Vadra during a campaign rally in Haryana. This remark came in the context of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, where the BJP is seeking to retain power. PM Modi accused the Congress of handing over the state to 'damaad' and asserted that no job was given in Haryana without 'kharchi-parchi' (bribe).
Vadra, in his response, strongly rejected these allegations, calling them unfounded and baseless. He highlighted the fact that the BJP had governed Haryana for a decade and that multiple investigations had been initiated against him and his companies during their tenure. These investigations, including the Dhingra Commission inquiry, were intended to examine his business dealings and land holdings in the state. Vadra emphasized that despite these probes, no evidence of wrongdoing was ever found.
He pointed out that the BJP had actively sought to disrupt his business operations in Haryana, sending notices to his companies and halting various projects. Vadra expressed disappointment with the tone used by the Prime Minister in his remarks, considering it inappropriate and lacking in decorum. He argued that the people of Haryana were dissatisfied with the current BJP government and that Modi was resorting to such tactics to deflect from his own party's failings.
Vadra expressed confidence in Congress's prospects in the upcoming elections, citing the public desire for change. He maintained that the people of Haryana had experienced the BJP's rule for a significant period and were ready for a different leadership. Vadra's statement further escalated the political rhetoric leading up to the Haryana elections, emphasizing the key issues of corruption, development, and public perception that will likely influence the outcome.
