The article reports on the closure of schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on September 17th, 2023, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. This closure is a precautionary measure to manage the expected large crowd during the Prime Minister's visit. The purpose of his visit is to launch the state's flagship scheme, 'SUBHADRA,' aimed at empowering women in Odisha.

The 'SUBHADRA' scheme is designed to benefit more than 1 crore women across Odisha. Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 and 60 years will receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024 to 2029. This amount will be disbursed in two equal installments of Rs 10,000 per year and directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

In addition to the launch of the 'SUBHADRA' scheme, Prime Minister Modi will also undertake other significant initiatives during his visit. He will distribute the first installment of financial assistance to approximately 13 lakh beneficiaries from 14 states under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). This scheme provides financial assistance for the construction of houses for low-income families in rural areas. Furthermore, the 'Griha Pravesh' ceremony for 26 lakh beneficiaries under both rural and urban PMAY programs is scheduled to take place. The PMAY beneficiaries will receive their house keys from Prime Minister Modi. The event also marks the launch of the 'Awaas+2024' app, which will be used for conducting surveys of households to determine their eligibility for inclusion under PMAY-G. Additionally, the Operational Guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) will be launched, providing a comprehensive framework for the urban housing scheme.
