The baby, born to Nandini Devi, a resident of Lohia Nagar, at 10:30 PM on Saturday, was last seen by his father around 2 PM on Sunday. The family’s nightmare began when they returned to the hospital at 7 PM to see their newborn and were informed by the nurse that the baby was not available. This revelation sparked a frantic search, leading to the discovery of the missing child and the shocking CCTV footage. The father's distress is palpable, having last seen his son just a few hours before he was taken, highlighting the horrifying ease with which the baby was stolen.
The incident has shaken the community and sparked outrage among the public, raising concerns about the safety of newborns in hospitals. The Begusarai Civil Surgeon, Dr Pramod Kumar Singh, acknowledged the gravity of the situation but attributed the incident to the high volume of visitors entering the hospital premises, making it difficult to identify individuals. However, this explanation falls short of addressing the core issue – the failure of hospital staff to ensure the safety and security of the newborn. The fact that none of the hospital staff could provide any explanation for the baby's disappearance further highlights the lack of accountability and negligence on their part.
