Kangana Ranaut, a prominent Bollywood actress and BJP Member of Parliament, has sold her bungalow situated in Mumbai's Bandra area for a substantial Rs 32 crore, according to real estate portal Zapkey India. This property, originally acquired by Ranaut in September 2017 for Rs 20.7 crore, had been transformed into the office space for her production house, Manikarnika Films. The bungalow is located in the upscale Pali Hill area of Bandra West, known for its luxurious residences and high-profile residents.
The sale of the property reflects a significant return on investment for Ranaut, with a total return of 55% and a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.4%. This indicates a healthy appreciation in the value of the property over the years. However, the bungalow's history includes a brief period of controversy. In 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ordered partial demolition of the bungalow, alleging illegal construction. This order was subsequently halted by the Bombay High Court after it ruled in favor of Ranaut.
While this real estate transaction is in the news, Ranaut's career continues to generate headlines for her upcoming directorial debut film, “Emergency.” Initially slated for release on Friday, the film's release has been postponed due to delays in obtaining clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The matter is currently being handled in court. Ranaut, who plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has accused the CBFC of intentionally delaying the certification process to hinder the film's release. The film has already encountered controversy with Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Akali Dal, raising concerns about its portrayal of the Sikh community and alleged inaccuracies in its historical facts.
