Both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, the two most successful franchises in IPL history with five titles each, have been particularly vocal in their support for the proposed rule. Their consistent success is often attributed to their ability to retain core players over multiple seasons, a strategy that could be further enhanced by the potential five-player retention rule.
