IIT Bombay Placements Dip in 2023-24
  • IIT Bombay saw a dip in placements for 2023-24.
  • 1475 students were placed, compared to 1516 in 2022-23.
  • 364 companies participated in the placement drive.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has released its annual placement report for the 2023-24 academic year, highlighting a slight decline in the number of students placed compared to the previous year. Despite this, the institute emphasizes that the majority of students who did not secure placements during the drive have identified alternative avenues for employment, including pursuing higher studies, self-employment, or entrepreneurship.

According to the report, a total of 1475 students received job offers from 364 companies, which participated in the placement session. This represents a dip from the previous year's figures, where 1516 students were placed. While the overall number of placements may have experienced a minor decline, the report indicates that the majority of participating companies honored their job offers, suggesting a strong interest in IIT Bombay graduates.

The placement process saw participation from various sectors, including Core Engineering, Information Technology, Software programming, Research and Development, Consulting, Finance, Banking, High-end Technology, and Technical Services. The report further indicates that students from the B.Tech program received the most job offers, followed by the Dual Degree (B.Tech. + M.Tech) and M.Tech programs. Despite the decline in placements, the number of companies participating in the recruitment drive has steadily increased over the past seven years, indicating a continued demand for IIT Bombay graduates in the job market.
