A tragic accident in Mumbai has claimed the life of a young income-tax official, Nupura Maniyar, who succumbed to her injuries after a BEST bus rammed her motorcycle. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Lalbaug when Maniyar, riding pillion with her fiance, was struck by the bus driven by Kamlesh Prajapati. The accident was triggered by a drunk passenger, Datta Murlidhar Shinde, who engaged in a heated argument with the bus driver.

According to eyewitness accounts, Shinde, an unemployed man with a history of violence, demanded that the driver pull over at an unscheduled stop. When Prajapati refused, citing the bus's AC status and scheduled route, Shinde escalated the situation by grabbing the steering wheel, causing the bus to lose control. The out-of-control bus collided with two motorcycles, a car, and several pedestrians, resulting in multiple injuries. Maniyar, who suffered severe abdominal bleeding, succumbed to her injuries despite medical intervention.

The incident has highlighted the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of road safety. Authorities have arrested Shinde, charging him with causing death due to negligence under the Indian Penal Code. The tragic death of Maniyar, a young woman who had recently taken over her deceased father's job in the I-T department, has sent shockwaves through the city. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless behavior and the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
