The bustling city of Delhi, India, experienced a welcome respite from the heat on Wednesday afternoon, as rainfall swept through various parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). The downpour, while bringing a much-needed cool breeze, also resulted in waterlogging in several locations, leading to traffic disruptions in key areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi, indicating the possibility of worsening weather conditions that could disrupt daily life. The department predicted light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 km/ph, in the upcoming hours. The humidity level in Delhi was recorded at a high 85%, while the maximum temperature was expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius.
Traffic snarls were reported in various parts of Delhi, including South, Central, North, New Delhi, and parts of neighboring Noida and Gurugram. Commuters faced delays and inconveniences due to the waterlogged roads and congested traffic. As the showers continue, the IMD is urging residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. The weather department has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the heavy rainfall and stay indoors if possible.
