CBI Uncovers Cover-Up in Kolkata Doctor Murder

CBI Uncovers Cover-Up in Kolkata Doctor Murder
  • Ex-principal delayed police report
  • CBI alleges evidence tampering
  • Police officer delayed response

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has revealed a disturbing cover-up in the case of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The investigation has uncovered a series of deliberate actions by the hospital's former principal, Sandip Ghosh, and the officer-in-charge of the Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, that allegedly hindered the investigation and potentially destroyed evidence.

Ghosh, who was informed about the murder at 9:58 am on August 9th, failed to immediately register a formal police complaint. Instead, he introduced what the CBI termed a 'new theory of suicide' despite the presence of external injury marks on the victim's body. This delay and attempt to misdirect the investigation raise serious concerns about Ghosh's motives and potential involvement in the crime. Furthermore, Ghosh's communication with Mondal and an advocate suggests a deliberate attempt to manipulate the situation and potentially obstruct justice.

Mondal, despite being informed about the crime at 10:03 am, arrived at the crime scene an hour later, despite its proximity to the Tala Police Station. His failure to ensure timely registration of the FIR, proper cordoning of the crime scene, and his role in the hasty cremation of the victim's body without a second autopsy raise serious concerns about his conduct. The CBI alleges Mondal attempted to protect the accused, Sanjoy Roy, and other individuals who had unauthorized access to the crime scene. The evidence suggests that Mondal actively participated in the cover-up, hindering the investigation and potentially allowing evidence to be tampered with.

The CBI's revelations paint a grim picture of a systemic failure in the investigation of this heinous crime. The actions of both Ghosh and Mondal, along with the alleged conspiracy involving other unknown individuals, point towards a deliberate attempt to shield the perpetrator and obstruct justice. The 14-hour delay in lodging the FIR, the misleading General Diary Entry, and the actions of the police officer all contribute to a pattern of evidence tampering and cover-up. The arrest of Ghosh and Mondal marks a crucial step in bringing those responsible for the murder and its cover-up to justice, and ensuring that the victim's family receives justice for this tragic loss.
