The recent Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra saw a significant decline in the BJP's performance, with the party winning only 9 seats compared to 23 in the 2019 polls. This decline, according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is primarily attributed to the poor vote transfer from the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a party with which the BJP formed an alliance for the elections. Fadnavis believes that the BJP's core voter base, who were traditionally against aligning with the NCP, were not receptive to the alliance, and this negatively impacted their vote share.
Despite this initial resistance, Fadnavis assures that the BJP has successfully convinced at least 80% of their voter base about the necessity of this alliance with the NCP. He explains that political compromises are often required, even if they go against the party's core beliefs, and the BJP has made such compromises to ensure political stability and progress. This strategy, he asserts, is aimed at securing the party's success in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, which are scheduled for November.

However, Fadnavis remains optimistic about the future, highlighting the party's strong position in the state and its commitment to winning the upcoming elections.
