The Opposition AIADMK has seized upon the murders to criticize the ruling DMK, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in the state. The party's spokesperson, KOVAI Sathyan, declared that the killings clearly illustrate the lawlessness in Tamil Nadu and the incompetence of Chief Minister M K Stalin. The BJP's state chief, K Annamalai, echoed similar sentiments, questioning Stalin's moral right to continue as Chief Minister.
The ruling DMK, however, has strongly refuted these allegations, claiming that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu is far better than in BJP-ruled states. The party has cited data from the National Crime Records Bureau to support its claim and accused the Opposition of playing politics. The DMK spokesperson, Dr Hafeezullah, stated that a no-crime situation is utopian and that what matters is how the government responds to such incidents. He asserted that Chief Minister Stalin has dealt with these murders firmly and professionally.
