Maliwal, Kumar Trade Charges in Alleged Assault Case
  • Maliwal alleges assault at Kejriwal's house.
  • Kumar refutes charges, claims false case.
  • AAP embroiled in political controversy.

AAP MP Swati Maliwal's allegations that she was assaulted inside Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's house by the latter's personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, have descended into a massive political controversy, with the Aam Aadmi Party refuting her charges.

Maliwal, a former chief of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), claimed she was beaten inside Kejriwal's drawing room by Kumar. She also alleged that Kumar had threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident.

Kumar, on the other hand, has denied the allegations, claiming that Maliwal is trying to implicate him in a false case. He said that he was not even present at Kejriwal's house when the alleged incident took place.

The AAP has also come out in support of Kumar, calling Maliwal's allegations 'baseless'. The party has accused Maliwal of trying to damage the AAP's reputation ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

The allegations and counter-allegations have created a major political storm in Delhi. The BJP has demanded an independent probe into the matter, while the Congress has accused the AAP of trying to cover up the incident.

The Delhi Police have registered an FIR against Kumar based on Maliwal's complaint. The police are investigating the matter and have recorded the statements of both Maliwal and Kumar.

The outcome of the investigation is likely to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Delhi. If Maliwal's allegations are proven true, it could damage the AAP's reputation and lead to calls for Kejriwal's resignation.

On the other hand, if Kumar is cleared of the charges, it could vindicate the AAP and help the party in the upcoming elections.

The allegations and counter-allegations have also raised questions about the safety of women in Delhi. Maliwal's allegations suggest that even women in positions of power are not safe from violence.

The incident has also highlighted the need for a more robust system for addressing complaints of sexual harassment and assault in Delhi.
