The Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held in May 2024, are heating up as political parties intensify their poll campaigns. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address a rally in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against Rahul Gandhi regarding his filed nomination from the Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.
The complaint raises questions about Rahul Gandhi's nationality and his recent conviction in a defamation case, with concerns about the validity of his nomination. As per the Lok Sabha election schedule, the voting for the third phase is set to take place on May 7, with 94 Lok Sabha seats across 12 states and Union Territories going to polls.
The two major political alliances vying for power are the INDIA bloc, comprising parties like Congress, AAP, and TMC, and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA, with BJP, PMK, JDU as its members. NDA aims for its third consecutive term, seeking to repeat their success of 'abki baar 400 paar.'
The INDIA bloc, on the other hand, is adopting a more economical approach in their campaign, focusing on promises related to MSP for farmers and cash handouts to women in their manifesto. The Lok Sabha election will unfold across seven phases, with the first and second phases already completed on April 19 and April 26, respectively.
The remaining phases are scheduled as follows: May 7 for Phase 3, May 13 for Phase 4, May 20 for Phase 5, May 25 for Phase 6, and June 1 for Phase 7. The votes will be counted, and the results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 4.
